CT Miracle Ride Frequently Asked QuestionsWhere does the ride start? The ride actually starts at 13 different locations across the state, converging at the Hartford Hospital, Newington Campus in a "hub and spoke" manner. In this sense the event is actually two rides in one. The first is the group ride from each satellite area into Newington, and the second is the parade where all the riders form one group and ride past the medical center on their way to the end site. To determine which satellite area is closest to you, check either the satellite locations or the on site registration page. What times do the satellite areas leave for Newington? Each area will depart based on how long it will take to get to Hartford Hospital, Newington Campus. For example, the New London group will need to leave sooner than the Newington group. To determine what time the satellite location in your area will depart, just give them a call. Each location has their phone number listed on the satellite locations page. Do I need to ride with a group from a satellite area? No, you can choose to ride straight to old Connecticut Children’s Hospital in Newington. If you would like to put your own group together (particularly if you're not close to a satellite area or you are coming from out of state), you can contact the Miracle Ride so we can make arrangements to accommodate your group. How do I pre register? You can pre register either online through the web site, or through the mail by completing a pre registration form which you can pick up at any of the satellite locations. Pre-registration ends May 11th. Why should I pre register?Pre-registration brings extra benefits. Not only will you save $5.00 per person ($25 single, $35 double, verses $30 and $40 the day of the event), you will also receive an event pin - a $5.00 value - at no cost as part of your pre-registration. Can I register the day of the ride?Yes, you can register at any of the satellite areas the morning of the ride, or at the Old Children's Hosiptal in Newington. Where does the ride go?From Newington, the parade runs past Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford, and to Lake Compounce. What's going on at the end site?In addition to lunch, we have a live band, vendors and a 50/50 raffle. Where does the money go?Each year the proceeds from the Miracle Ride are directed towards one goal - $125,000.00, to help the NICU and other areas of the Medical Center. How can I get involved? We always need volunteers. If you would like to help please e-mail Gary Gillette. We also need additional locations to sell the Miracle Ride Wheelies. Since we have only recently started selling the Wheelies, we have only covered a fraction of the locations that might be interested in helping. If I know a place that might like to sell Wheelies, what should I do?If you know of an operation that would be a good location for selling Wheelies, talk to them to see if they would be willing to help. If they are interested, drop us a line at the Miracle Ride through the Contact the Miracle Ride page on the web site, or leave a message on the Miracle Ride Hot Line at 860-749-4339. Give us their name and telephone number and someone from the Miracle Ride committee will contact them. It's that simple. |
